Some tribal leaders have expressed concern regarding the proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill that seeks to bar floor crossing by Members of Parliament.
They say they would only agree to the idea if parties are funded by government since MPs will benefit from the taxpayer’s funds in their campaigns.
Speaking yesterday at the Ntlo ya Dikgosi, Kgosi Oreagetse Machilidza of Boteti region said the bill is just a BDP sponsored campaign aimed at stemming the tide of floor crossing from their party to the opposition.
Kgosi Machilidza added that the BDP government has a tendency of making hasty amendments to regulations that affect the party and drag their feet on other matters.
